2003 Mardi Gras PicturesEunice Street Dance and Jam Session
|
The Eunice
Mardi Gras Celebration kicked off Friday evening with a street dance featuring the music
of Danny Collet and Louisiana Tremor. Collet was
a member of the Basin Brothers when the group was nominated for a Grammy in 1991. He
subsequently formed the Louisiana Swamp Cats, producing a CD that offered a mixture of
Cajun, swamp pop, and his own compositions. Returning to the music scene with his new band Louisiana Tremor in 2002, Collet recorded a CD for Acadiana Records featuring his own compositions sung in English, including the title track, "It Wasn't Supposed to Happen," which has received a lot of airplay on South Louisiana radio stations. In the photo immediately below, Collet was playing guitar while singing "C.C.Rider." Then he switched to accordion and began a French set that included traditional Cajun songs like "J'ai passé devant ta porte" and "Jongle à moi." The band performed at the Walnut Street stage in front of Dee's Cajun Gifts and Acadiana Sounds Studios. With one of the best voices in Cajun music and a real gift for writing songs, Collet and his band Louisiana Tremor are definitely worth checking out. |
